A quick recap of the last controversy to air in 2022 between Shaniera Akram and Feroze Khan on road safety rules was that the former called out the latter for irresponsibly driving with his son on his lap, without a seatbelt.
Later, Imran Ashraf Awan was also “dragged” into the drama for “being influenced” by the Khuda Aur Mohabbat actor and that didn’t sit well with him at all.
The Dum Mastam actor, who earlier released a long clip defending himself against Shaniera, has now publicly accepted that it was indeed his fault and he would’ve apologised to his “bhabhi” immediately if she hadn’t involved his son to support her controversy.
“The timing was wrong, perhaps, but it was a regular video that I make with Roham every other day. Yes, I should’ve worn a seatbelt but I’m not an idiot who would willingly tell the whole country to risk their kid’s life,” said Imran on The Talk Talk Show.
About why he uploaded a long video and not simply apologised to Shaniera the way he did on TV, the actor reasoned, "I reacted to that allegation because she dragged my kid. I would’ve never responded to it otherwise. I said what he can’t say right now. His father wasn’t doing what she alleged him to be doing, I wasn’t supporting Feroze Khan or promoting unsafe driving,” said Imran.
“Why would I go against the law? My apology will be to the law, and no one else because I don't want my son to grow up and think what kind of a father I was,” he added.
In the same video, Imran also stated that his family, including his kid, is already going through a ‘devastating’ time. Upon asking whether the whole Shaniera-Feroze fiasco brought further negativity into his already struggling family, the Ranjha Ranjha Kardi actor politely declined to answer any questions about his family or his divorce.
“There’s no negativity. Kiran and I love Roham very much. The whole idea was that I do not want him to grow up developing a certain image of me when that’s not me. My utmost purpose and priority in life right now is my son’s life,” he exclaimed.
When the host further probed the actor to share what challenges he has faced ever since the divorce, he simply urged his fans and followers to remember them in their prayers. “Just pray for us, that’s all I can ask right now,” he stated.
Last year in October, Imran and his wife of four years, Kiran, announced separation. They took to social media to share the news of their parting ways. “With a heavy heart, we announce that we have mutually and respectfully decided to part ways,” their Instagram post read.
“The primary concern for both of us will remain our son, Roham for whom we will continue to be the best possible parents.” The statement further read, “We request the fans, well-wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Love and respect for all, Kiran and Imran."
Imran and Kiran had tied the knot in 2018.
